Human Rights Training

One Day Training Event

Brief Outline:

  • This pack is intended for training lay magistrates, ideally in groups of no more than 30.
  • It is likely that magistrates will get the maximum benefit if the material is delivered as a one-day event rather than as 2 half days.
  • It is essential that the magistrates have the advice and assistance of a minimum of 3 tutors during the case study exercises.
  • The aim of this event is to enable magistrates advised by a clerk to deal with convention points.
  • The material has been designed with the above in mind - it is not a watered down version of the legal advisors' training days.
  • It is more important to get the magistrates 'learning by doing' than giving them large amounts of factual information.

N.B. One of the legal advisor's case studies suitably amended has been used. This should make life easier for the tutors but make sure you read it as matters have been deleted and added.
