Tribunals Committee
The role of the Tribunals Committee is to assure the JSB and the Senior President of Tribunals that the training needs of judicial office-holders in tribunals are being met. It does this by:
- setting the training standards frameworks and competences on which training is based
- developing and delivering training programmes for tribunal judges and non-legal members in the competences required for the judicial role
- providing support and guidance to tribunals in the delivery of training within their own jurisdictions
- evaluating the quality of training, appraisal and mentoring provision in tribunals.
The committee is chaired by a High Court Judge and includes Tribunal Presidents, judicial training heads and academic trainers from a wide range of tribunal jurisdictions. Officials from the Ministry of Justice, the Tribunals Service, and a representative from the Administrative Justice and Tribunals Council (AJTC) also attend.
